In the jungle, medium and low sized hills exist, just like the savannahs and manglares that exist in the Municipality of Othon P. Blanco. Like in the rest of the state, the wild fauna is tropical and certain species stand out such as the jaguar, the badger, the deer, the wild boar, the spotted cavy, the squirrel, the saraguato, the spider monkey, the ant eater, and the armadillo, among others. In the aquatic part of the land exist crocodiles, and lizards and several species of that sort. Also there are small, medium and large turtles. Fish include the tilapia, bream, and the zaballo fish. |
|
The tropical forest adjoins a strip of another medium sized forest where the trees reach a height of 39 to 82 feet respectively, there, one is able to see innumerable species of rambling plants and plants that grow on one another. Amongst the most common species stand out the Dzalam, the Ciricote, the Plum tree, the Ramon, the Jabin, the Coral tree, the Chechen, the Chakah, the Cedar, and the Mahogony. The clearing that is done in order to cultivate, and the immoderate felling of precious woods comes with the result of the appearance of low land with plants that lack forest type of value. In the marshy zones that are located to the east and northeast of the city, one can observe species such as the red and white Manglar and other type of thickets and bushes.
